Ashley Tarleton is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Journalism and Creative & Professional Writing, and minoring in Literary Studies, at Deakin University. She is exceptionally hardworking; a confident and capable student, writer and editor.
Presently, Ashley is on the editorial committee for several literary journals, including Page Seventeen and Deakin’s Imagine. Her work has appeared in the Bendigo Advertiser, Bendigo Weekly, Forte, Deakin’s Worldly, and on the Colour Box Studio webpage. With a true passion for writing, Ashley was a volunteer at last year’s Emerging Writers Festival, and Bendigo Writers Festival.
At Deakin University, Ashley was a peer mentor, student ambassador for Creative & Professional Writing, and invited to be a tutor for several media and communication units; her academic achievement allowed her to join the Golden Key International Honour Society, which recognises students in more than 400 universities, who receive grades that place them in the top 15% of their course.
Ashley hopes to build a successful career in journalism. Currently, she is completing the preliminary workshops needed to take part in an internship next year, in a professional newsroom. Ashley is also working on a personal essay that she plans to submit to Verandah, and a feature article that discusses the shift in war memorial design, in Australia, which she plans to submit to the Melton Leader. After completing her undergraduate degree, Ashley hopes to complete a Masters of Writing, Publishing & Editing, at Melbourne University.
