Nathan Fioritti is a 21-year-old writer and freelance journalist from Melbourne, Victoria. He is interested in media, arts and culture, science and technology, social and environmental issues, and politics. He is currently completing Honours study in Media and Communications / Creative Writing at The University of Melbourne, as well as working as a tender writer and editor for Delaware North. He has written for publications such as Farrago, Phantasmagoria, T-Squat, The 59th Sound, Kill Your Stereo, and Pilcrow and Dagger and is the current Media Officer for Academics for Refugees, and former Education Officer for The University of Melbourne’s Media and Communications Student Society (MaCSS).
He drinks a lot of coffee, hoards books, particularly those written by Kurt Vonnegut, and, in his spare time, plays music and works on his creative writing. He thinks YMCA Victoria’s Youth Parliament program is a fantastic opportunity for young people to stand up and have their voices heard and is very proud to be one of the journalists in the Youth Press Gallery. Once he finishes his studies, he plans to continue working as a freelancer, as well as acquire more experience within the media, with the aim being to eventually find work as a full-time journalist.
