Lucy Andrews

Hi, I’m Lucy.

I’m a student at Melbourne University, currently in my third year of my Bachelor of Arts. I’m majoring in media and communications, and will be graduating at the end of this year.

I’m so excited to be part of the 2017 Youth Press Gallery! I think Youth Parliament is an awesome program, and has huge potential for raising awareness of issues that concern young people. I want to help share the stories and passions of the YP members, so that more people can hear the important issues that the youth of Victoria are advocating for.

My interest in writing and editing comes from an obsession with reading books (nothing better than a good novel and a cuppa tea). Recently, I have joined the sub-editing team at Farrago, the Melbourne University magazine. I have also had a fair amount of experience writing both fiction and non-fiction in a variety of classes at Uni, but this is my first time at the real-deal Journalism!

In the future, I hope to follow a career in publishing and/or editing, so the press gallery experience is really relevant for me in learning how to adhere to a writing style, how to edit my own and others work, and how to work in a news gathering team.

I can’t wait to get started!
